The Bernina stitch length stop spring holds the stitch length lever in place and prevents you from uscrewing it completely. It’s a little tricky to fit and you will possibly have to remove the fascia plate to gain access to the stitch length lever block. It will fit on most of the older mechanical Bernina models such as the 801, 830, 900, 910, 930 etc. It will also fit the modern 1008 and the 1008S.
