This Bernina Drive Belt Primary Short was used for the old Bernina 7 series such as the 707 and 730. Berninas generally have two drive belts – primary short and secondary long.
The short belt runs from the motor pulley wheel to the jockey wheel. Then the secondary long belt runs from the jockey wheel to the balance, or hand, wheel.
When replacing and fitting a new belt, or belts, the position of the jockey wheel can be adjusted to make the process easier. The jockey wheel is fitted to a bracket. Loosen, but DO NOT remove, the screws in this bracket to ease the tension on the belts as you remove them. Adjust as necessary when replacing the belts to apply sufficient tension.
Although these belts have been in stock for a long time they are new and unused. I’ve got three left in stock.
