Want new Berninas? See our main site
In 1974, I was in college majoring in Home Economics (Clothing, Textiles, & Design) and the local Bernina dealer asked if I would participate in a fashion show they were sponsoring. In exchange for modeling I got a 10% (?) discount on a new 830 Record. I have sewn on it ever since – including a few years sewing formal wear from my home. I have had the motor replaced and the bobbin winder repaired. It has been a great workhorse and I wouldn’t trade it for any other machine!
My Warranty has expired…
I still have the warranty, many of the things that came with the accessory box, still using the same bobbins, and have dozen or so Bernina how-to books. Very early on I got rid of the carrying case, knee pedal, and the top arm “plate” as I put the machine in a maple cabinet. But in downsizing, the cabinet is now gone so I just sew with the machine on the table.
